Three charged in campus-area stabbing
The victim is treated for non-life-threatening wounds after a fight that started with a street encounter
Three men in their 20s were arrested early Thursday morning in connection with the stabbing of another college-age man in the west university neighborhood, according to Eugene police.
The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital with wounds that were not life-threatening after the incident that happened about 2:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Patterson Alley, Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said.
Arrested and charged with disorderly conduct were Quinten Wendell Link, 21, of Eugene; Logan Michael Saruwatori, 21, of Eugene; and Garrett Phillip Saruwatori, 23, of Colorado, McLaughlin said.
She said the trouble began earlier when the victim and a female companion ran into a group of intoxicated college-age people near the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Patterson Street.
There was some sort of altercation, McLaughlin said. The man and woman went to the home of nearby friends and told them what happened, McLaughlin said.
The man who was eventually stabbed left the house with some friends, and they went looking for the group the man had a problem with before, McLaughlin said.
They found them, and a three-on-three fight ensued, which resulted in the stabbing, she said.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, McLaughlin said.
